Vangora saw daylight on 3rd of June 1989 and at the end of the year 1989 there were 20 members. The association was originally registered with the name "VAN-seura r.y." and it was ment to be a breed association for turkish vans only, because at that time there weren't any angoras in Finland.
After some angoras had come to Finland and the friends of the two turkish cat breeds wanted to share the association, the name was changed to "VANGORA r.y.".
At the moment Vangora has about 60 members. Most of us are from Finland, but we also have a few members from abroad (Sweden and the USA).
All those who are interested of turkish angoras or vans can join Vangora.
